Welcome to Ripley Village, Surrey

Ripley a quaint and picturesque village in the heart of Surrey is steeped in History dating back to the 12th Century, with many old buildings and a wealth to discover. Information booklets can be found in the village cafes to help you understand more about the village and its history.

In addition to the historic buildings, it is here that the wonder drug penicillin was first developed for civilian use during the Second World War. Lord Nelson is also said to have frequented Ripley on his journey from London to Portsmouth, one of his captains is even buried at the village church. Home to some of England's finest cricketers, its local cricket club is on the village green and has been since c.1749.  It is one of the oldest crickets clubs in the world on record and still holds regular matches to this day. Ripley is also famous for being the birthplace of rock-star Eric Clapton and boasts no fewer than seven great pubs within a mile and a half radius, some of these establishments dating as far back as the 15th century.
